Buckin’ in the Basin, an event held on September 6, brought a number of qualified riders to Tularosa for an evening of bull riding and ranch bronc riding.
They competed both in bull riding and bronco riding events.
David Sanchez took the championship in bull riding, holding for a full eight seconds. He earned a custom-made pair of boots from Sheridan’s Cowboy Gear, valued at $2,160 and a $500 bonus donated by Sheridan and Whitney Hileman.
Ranch Bronc Champion Blaine Alexander held onto his bronco for eight seconds, earning a championship buckle from Sheridan’s and a $500 bonus. It was the 14-year-old’s first-ever competition.
The event was sponsored by the Greater Tularosa Basin Foundation, along with Roadrunner Cattle Co., Tularosa Distillery and several other local businesses in the region.
