Samuel Ramirez, 47, of Roswell, one of two suspects police sought in connection with a stabbing that left another man seriously injured, was arrested Monday.
Police arrested Ramirez at his residence late Monday afternoon, after he contacted them upon learning they were searching for him, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the Roswell Police Department. The arrest came after a second man, Phillip Contreras, 51, of Roswell, was arrested at another residence Sept. 22, the night of the stabbing.
Ramirez and Contreras each face two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Police said the men stabbed a 43-year-old man multiple times in the front yard of a residence in the 70 block of G Street. The victim, who was in serious condition, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to a criminal complaint filed in Fifth Judicial District Court in Roswell.
Police believe the victim and at least one of the suspects were involved in a verbal altercation an hour before the attack, according to the news release.
