Roswell Police are investigating the death of a homeless man whose body was found Tuesday in the Hondo River Channel.
Andrew Lujan-Huerta, 46, died from “at least one gunshot wound,” according to a news release issued Wednesday by the Roswell Police Department.
Police learned of the death shortly before 7:30 p.m. after a man called 911 to report finding Lujan-Huerta’s body in the river channel behind a trailer park on Holly Loop, just west of South Sunset Avenue.
No suspect was identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
A separate homicide investigation remains ongoing in the death of another homeless man, Kent Hoffman, 56, according to the news release.
Hoffman’s body was found June 14 beneath the Hondo River Bridge on South Main Street, just south of downtown Roswell. Police at the time said Hoffman had a laceration around his neck but did not disclose any other information about a cause of death.
Police do not believe the two cases are connected, according to the news release. Anyone with information in either case is asked to call the Roswell Police Department at 575-624-6770.
