On June 29th, 2026, New Mexico State Police, District 3 Roswell, was called to investigate after suspected contraband was discovered at the Roswell Correctional Center.
The investigation revealed that during a scheduled inmate visitation, Brittney Duncan allegedly concealed Suboxone strips and passed them to inmate Andres Archuleta inside a bag of chips. Archuleta removed the contraband from the bag and swallowed it before correctional officers intervened. Archuleta was immediately placed in a dry cell, where correctional officers later recovered 57 Suboxone strips.
On July 2, New Mexico State Police D3 officers interviewed Duncan. At the conclusion of the interview, she was served with an arrest warrant and charged with:
-Bringing Contraband into a Prison
-Conspiracy to Bring Contraband into a Prison
-Trafficking a Controlled Substance
-Conspiracy to Commit Trafficking a Controlled Substance
Duncan was booked into the Chaves County Detention Center.
Archuleta, who was already incarcerated at the Roswell Correctional Center, was additionally charged with:
-Bringing Contraband into a Prison
-Conspiracy to Bring Contraband into a Prison
